Sir Brian Souter’s investment vehicle seals sale and new purchases


Sir Brian Souter is the co-founder of transport operator Stagecoach.

The exit of Souter’s investment in Pet Network International follows the successful sale of the company by The Rohatyn Group (TRG) to A&M Capital Europe.

Souter supported TRG to create Pet Network in 2018 through the acquisition and merger of three pet supply companies – Pet Centar, Animax and Mr Pet.

Meanwhile, Souter Investments has partnered with retail director and investor Ben Barnett to finalize the takeover of Celtic & Co, an award-winning, wool-based sustainable clothing and housewares brand specializing in fashion from ethical source.

Souter also unveiled the merger of the acquisition of US voluntary carbon market specialist Natural Capital Partners with existing holding company Climate Care.

In another deal, Souter backed Fremman Capital, the pan-European mid-market private equity firm, in its acquisition of a controlling stake in VPS, a marine fuel testing and consulting services company.

Based in Rotterdam, VPS provides its services worldwide through five strategically located laboratories, with samples shipped and tested from anywhere in the world.

Since its inception in 2006, Souter Investments has invested nearly £ 500 million in over 60 unlisted companies, either as a lead investor or as a partner of other financial sponsors. She currently holds a portfolio of investments in more than 30 private companies.

Sir Brian founded Stagecoach in 1980 with his sister, Ann Gloag, building it from a single bus line to a global transport operator.
