NEW YORK–(COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Alpha Venture Partners, a pioneer in providing seed capital to early stage venture capital firms, today announced details of its investment strategy to provide capital to venture capital firms in start-up with expiring prorated rights. The company is targeting a $ 100 million fund, Alpha Venture Partners Fund II, to add to its $ 75 million in assets under management.
“There is an untapped market to help early stage venture capitalists that lack the capital to participate in subsequent rounds of their holding companies,” said Steve Brotman, Founder and Managing Partner of Alpha . “We offer seed funds a solution to keep their rights on a pro rata basis. An Alpha partnership allows them to double their winners.
To date, the company has deployed $ 50 million across eight high-growth companies, including Coupang, Vroom, Wish, and LiveIntent. The companies in the Alpha Fund I portfolio grow at a combined compound annual growth rate of 70% and generate over $ 6 billion in gross revenue. Fund II will allow Alpha to continue to expand its network of seed funds and sponsors.
“Our co-investment strategy is leveling the playing field for our network of hundreds of seed funds to invest in their opportunities at a later stage,” added Brotman. “We are one of the only sources of ready-to-use, transaction-to-transaction capital for late stage opportunities. Alpha is the pioneer of a new asset class ripe for innovation.
“As the third largest seed investor in the world, SOSV makes more than 200 investments per year in companies that pass through our leading accelerators,” commented Sean O’Sullivan, Founder and Managing Partner of SOSV. “As these startups begin to expand into tens of millions of revenues, we are bringing in leading global investors like Alpha Venture Partners to help fund these companies and syndicate some of our most exciting deals. It is a pleasure to work with the professionals of Alpha. They are thorough, responsive and straightforward – qualities that are too rare.
“Alpha is chasing an attractive opportunity in an inefficient market,” said JH Moulton, Managing Director of Waypoint Holdings. “Family offices that invest directly in companies must find an advantage when it comes to sourcing. While we don’t normally invest in funds and have our own private equity direct investment team, Alpha’s co-investment fund model is attractive.
